Growing Pains: The Seven Deadly EPs (Updated)
Consider this an explanation of the upcoming album, though as I will explain it is not strictly an album per sè.
Growing Pains will be an album comprised of seven mini-albums or EPs, each with seven songs (or tracks). These will not all be released at once, but in sequence as they are recorded and completed. The project will most likely be on-going for some years.
Each EP will be ‘subtitled’ according to the Seven Deadly Sins as referenced by Chaucer in The Canterbury Tales or by Dante in The Divine Comedy. Chaucer references them in reverse order (compared to the traditional order), but Growing Pains EPs will be realised in this order:
- Growing Pains — Sin I: Lust
- Growing Pains — Sin II: Gluttony
- Growing Pains — Sin III: Avarice
- Growing Pains — Sin IV: Sloth
- Growing Pains — Sin V: Wrath
- Growing Pains — Sin VI: Envy
- Growing Pains — Sin VII: Pride
The project may sound a little pretentious, but the intentions are quite contemporary. Lyrical content is to be an exploration of modern life (if you like, the ‘Seven Ages of Man’ as described in Shakespeare’s As You Like It) and links each of the Seven Deadly Sins to human growth. Indeed, seven is a number that will recur in themes throughout all seven of the EPs (or mini albums). Another interesting fact is that all titles will be single-worded, ie: Halloween, Insecurities, Gothette, Libido, Escort and so on.
The first instalment in the series, Growing Pains — Sin I: Lust will be released later this year. Specially-arranged unplugged/acoustic versions of some of the songs from the first and future instalments have been performed pseudo-live for YouTube (find them on the YouTube Channel). Also, a proper music video for Halloween (watch it here) has already been released, the audio for which represents a rough demo of the final recorded song.

Wow! let me be the first to comment… This is talent! Not only does AJT compose, write and design (among other things) he can produce a concept probably not derived before and sell the concept too. I like this concept of multi layers of EP’s keeps you in suspense for the next volume. The imagination is unique and fits the term individual. I know his music… I like to think I was his catalyst in influencing the type of music he was fed during infancy. AJT is and always will be the apple of my eye as he is my son. Well done AJ loving every part of your human growth… run boy run!
